Cochrane's International Women's Day 2021
Monday, March 8, 2021
Each year Cochrane hosts an event in the name of Anne Anderson, a pioneering woman in health evidence synthesis. This year, the US Network is thrilled to be hosting the inaugural event, which will highlight the stories of five amazing women in our Network. Registration is FREE for this exciting virtual event, and we will be debuting a new online meeting platform called Hopin. Registration: Panel Description Join us as we discuss and highlight minority women and young investigators working in health science and evidence synthesis with Cochrane US. Hear about their career paths, who has inspired them, and what advice they have for other women interested in or working in health evidence synthesis. Learn about Cochrane’s role in evidence Synthesis and how anyone can get involved. Who is Anne Anderson? Anne Anderson was a contributor to the thinking and effort that gave birth to evidence-based health care. A clinically qualified reproductive physiologist, Anne had an active interest in women’s health, co-editing the first edition of Women’s Problems in General Practice and contributed to Effectiveness and Satisfaction in Antenatal Care (1982). Iain Chalmers, Murray Enkin, and Marc Keirse went on to publish Effective Care in Pregnancy and Childbirth (ECPC) in 1989, dedicating the book to Anne. ECPC, through its systematic approach to assessing the research literature, is widely acknowledged to have led to the development of Cochrane. Each year Cochrane awards the Anne Anderson award to a woman who has made significant contributions to evidence synthesis within the Cochrane organization. Submissions for the 2021 award open in April. Panelists Chair:

EBP Immersion March 22 – 26, 2021
Monday, March 22, 2021 to Friday, March 26, 2021
A Deep Dive Education Experience for Clinicians, Leaders & Faculty Evidence-based Practice: Making it a reality in your organization A transformational journey to improve healthcare quality and patient outcomes This unique program provides a “deep-dive” immersion into evidence-based practice (EBP). Participants will learn the step-by-step evidence-based practice process as well as effective strategies for integrating and sustaining EBP in clinical and academic organizations of any size or level of complexity. Participants will leave this experience with an action plan for implementing and sustaining evidence-based practice change and transforming their organizational culture. Bring your practice partner to collaborate on improved outcomes. The five-day EBP Immersion program includes tracks designed specifically for mentors, leaders and faculty. The content is focused on the unique roles and responsibilities of these individuals in implementing and sustaining EBP in their own practice as well as across the organization. Mentor Track: For individuals who will be working directly with other clinicians and helping them implement the EBP process in daily practice settings. The mentor track adds to the EBP skills learned throughout the early part of the immersion week with additional learning about the role of an EBP mentor. Key areas of the mentor track include understanding individual behavior change and organizational readiness for change, and strategies to implement and sustain EBP in an organization. Leadership Track: For individuals who are in formal/informal or traditional/non-traditional leadership roles who will be working within their organizations to move EBP forward. The leadership track adds to the EBP skills learned throughout the early part of the immersion week with additional learning about the role of an EBP leader. Key areas of the leadership track include how to leverage an organization’s strengths/attributes to build, grow and sustain an EBP culture as well as how to overcome an organization’s weaknesses/barriers related to EBP. The leadership sessions are interactive and provide an opportunity for participants to share experiences and formulate strategies to implement upon return to their work settings. Academic Track: For faculty and clinical educators who will be teaching and/or developing EBP courses, as well as integrating EBP throughout curricula in educational programs at all levels. The academic track adds to the EBP skills learned throughout the early part of the immersion week by layering in additional learning about how to create and/or teach EBP and integrate it throughout educational curricula at all levels in both academic and clinical settings. Key areas of the academic track include how to design appropriate EBP content for students at all levels of education across healthcare professions as well as evidence-based teaching strategies to use innovative approaches to effectively deliver content. If you are looking for a single program to ignite and sustain the evidence-based practice shift in your organization…this is it! |
