Credentialing Programs Background
Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for Evidence-based Practice in Nursing and Healthcare Offers the First Credentialing Programs: EBP Certificate and EBP Certification
The Institute of Medicine established a goal that by 2020, 90 percent of all healthcare decisions would be evidence-based. HealthExec reports that today, only 18% of clinical recommendations are based on current evidence (Livernois, 2017.)
To increase evidence-based decisions in healthcare, the Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for Evidence-based Practice (EBP) in Nursing and Healthcare at The Ohio State University College of Nursing launched the first globally recognized professional Evidence-based Practice Certificate and EBP Certification (EBP-C) programs.
"EBP will help us reach the Quintuple Aim in healthcare," said Bernadette Melnyk, PhD, APRN-CNP, FAANP, FNAP, FAAN, EBP-C, founder of the Fuld National Institute for EBP, vice president for health promotion and chief wellness officer for The Ohio State University, and Helene Fuld Health Trust Professor of Evidence-based Practice in the College of Nursing. "Evidence-based practice increases healthcare quality and safety, improves health equity, decreases costs, and empowers clinicians to be freely engaged and excited when they come to work every single day."
Healthcare professionals are experiencing increased levels of burnout and dissatisfaction with their jobs. Evidence-based practice is a strategy to assist healthcare providers in meeting the Quintuple Aim. The Quintuple Aim focuses on creating better outcomes for patients, lowering costs, and improving the patient experience, the clinician experience, and health equity.
The Evidence-based Practice (EBP) Credentialing Programs includes two distinct opportunities: 1) the EBP Certificate and 2) the EBP Certification. Click on the program links for more information.
