The Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for Evidence-based Practice in Nursing and Healthcare is pleased to offer an EBP Certification since March 1, 2022. The EBP Certification (EBP-C) demonstrates the expertise in the EBP Mentor Role, methodology, and competencies. The major difference between the EBP Certificate and the EBP Certification is that the EBP-C is based on the Role Delineation Study that was conducted for the expert EBP Mentor Role in 2021. Recipients can use the credential "EBP-C" in their signature line.

This certification recognizes demonstrated expertise in EBP methodology, competencies, and the Mentor Role.

• Recognized by the Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for Evidence-based Practice (EBP) in Nursing and Healthcare.
• The EBP Certification is not accredited. Currently, we are not able to pursue accreditation.
• The EBP Certification (EBP-C) is approved for the Master Certification List by the Veterans Health Administration Office of Nursing Service.

Successful completion grants the EBP certification for a period of five years, with the opportunity for recertification.

Applicants will need to satisfy three components to earn the EBP certification:

• Component 1: Demonstrated completion of EBP coursework (within the last five years).
• Component 2: Demonstrated advanced EBP and expert EBP Mentor Role knowledge through content review and successful testing.
• Component 3: Approval of submitted portfolio demonstrating the application of EBP methodology and knowledge of an evidence-based practice change initiative (EBP or EBQI).

The advantage to earning the EBP-C is to demonstrate expertise in using evidence to make decisions that improve healthcare for not only patients and their families but also healthcare providers and practitioners. Upon completion of the certification, healthcare professionals in education or practice will be awarded an EBP certification for a period of five years with the opportunity to re-certify at the end of that period.
