Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Postdoctoral Fellowship
The Fuld National Institute for EBP is proud to announce the launch of an innovative Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Postdoctoral Fellowship. Fellows will gain expertise through engagement in a variety of experiences and mentorship from internationally recognized experts in these fields. The goal of this one-year, mentored fellowship is to create premier DNP experts in practice and academia who will accelerate the translation of evidence into practice and leverage the synergies between EBP, research and quality improvement to advance healthcare delivery and/or population health outcomes in real-world settings.
To achieve this goal, the fellowship will focus on:
- Developing advanced knowledge, skills, expertise and experience in evidence-based practice (EBP), evidence-based quality improvement (EBQI), implementation science and strategies, system leadership, innovation and navigation of change in complex systems.
- Creating organizational cultures that sustain EBP in order to add value, enhance return on investment (ROI)/value of investment (VOI) and positively impact outcomes.
- Gaining exposure to high-visibility experiences in order to start building recognition as an EBP expert.
- Disseminating some aspect of their work at a national-level conference.
- Building a foundation for ongoing practice scholarship.
Application Information
This application is now open and closes on March 31, 2023, at 11:59 pm EDT. This 12- month fellowship runs from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024, with an orientation in June 2023.
Qualified applicants need to have earned a DNP, with preference given to those within the last five years, before June 30, 2023. For those candidates with a DNP degree earned more than 5 years ago, a special statement is required.

Qualifications:
A qualified applicant is:
- a registered nurse,
- a graduate of an accredited Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) program with preference given to those earned in the past five years (i.e., you would need to have graduated between 2018 and 2023 for the 2023 application year)* and
- willing to travel approximately four weeks in 1 week-increments during the 12-month postdoctoral fellowship period.
A qualified applicant has:
- a minimum of two years of nursing experience,
- a commitment to serving as a leader in EBP,
- demonstrated or emerging leadership experiences,
- supervisor/organizational support for fellowship requirements and
- funding for travel for required on-site experiences (either organizational or personal).
A completed application will include:
- DNP Postdoctoral Candidate Personal Information Form with responses to open-ended essay questions
- CV/résumé
- DNP or DNAP Transcript showing earned degree (may be unofficial)
- Letter of support from the sponsoring organization (see Support Letters Guide)
- OPTIONAL: Commitment statement from organizational mentor to support the DNP postdoc candidate (see Support Letters Guide)
This fellowship requires little to no out-of-pocket costs for the participant. Much of the work will be done either virtually or at the fellow’s organization, but may involve up to four one-week segments of travel across the year-long experience.

The Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for Evidence-based Practice (EBP) in Nursing and Healthcare in The Ohio State University College of Nursing is proud to announce the 2022-2023 cohort of its Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Postdoctoral Fellowship.
After a highly competitive application and review process, nine individuals were chosen for the second cohort, representing nursing leadership, clinical practice and academia.

2021-2022 Inaugural DNP Postdoctoral Fellows Announcement

After a highly competitive application and review process, eight individuals were chosen to comprise the inaugural cohort, representing nursing leadership, clinical practice and academia.
"We couldn’t be more excited about launching this fellowship and our inaugural cohort. These outstanding nurses sit in positions where they have extensive reach across the entire healthcare spectrum. They come from across the United States (east coast to Hawaii) and work in acute, ambulatory and community settings in adult and pediatric care,” said Cindy Zellefrow, DNP, MSEd, RN, LSN, PHNA-BC, academic core and DNP fellowship director. “They hold leadership positions in large healthcare systems, work in national-level organizations that inform and drive nursing professional development and teach in higher education.
