Systematic reviews and clinical practice guidelines have potential for significant impact on bridging the research to practice gap in healthcare. Critical evaluation and synthesis of the research literature into concise summaries and recommendations are important mechanisms for increasing uptake of research into practice. But what happens if these documents do not accurately reflect the state of the evidence? How can healthcare clinicians determine this when making decisions about patient care? This plenary session will answer these questions and provide attendees with strategies for evaluating if a document is a great tool or a great scam.
