“Miami Cancer Institute opened its doors on January 16, 2017, merging multiple oncology practices and disciplines under one roof to provide comprehensive cancer care to patients in South Florida, Latin America and the Caribbean. To help further build and define its culture after opening, Miami Cancer Institute recently held its first multidisciplinary Shared Governance Council (SGC) Retreat on August 7, 2017. Tools, resources and information learned during the second cohort of the Center for Transdisciplinary Evidence-based Practice (CTEP) program, hosted by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center June 26-30, 2017, were used to educate the 48 attendees about EBP. Staff learned about each of the six easy steps to EBP, how to define PICOT questions, elements of PICOT questions, types of PIOCT questions and levels of evidence. Last week we welcomed visitors from 28 states, Jamaica, China, Norway, Holland, Finland, the Maldives, and Australia at the inaugural Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing and Healthcare Summit. With over 300 in attendance and even more livestreaming the event, we are thrilled with the turnout and hope to grow even further in the coming years. Dr. Lynn Gallagher-Ford Inducted in the 2017 Class of AAN Fellows
This past Saturday, Lynn Gallagher-Ford, PhD, RN, DPFNAP, NE-BC, FAAN, was inducted into the 2017 class of Academy Fellows as one of the 173 highly distinguished nurse leaders. She joins over 2,500 Academy fellows in 29 countries and all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia. Congratulations, Lynn, and thank you for all you are doing to improve healthcare and the nursing profession!

The American Academy of Nursing announced today that Lynn Gallagher-Ford, PhD, RN, DPFNAP, NE-BC, will be inducted in the 2017 class of Academy Fellows as one of 173 highly distinguished nurse leaders in a ceremony at the Academy’s annual policy conference, October 5-7, 2017, in Washington, D.C. She joins over 2,500 Academy fellows in 29 countries and all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia. Selection criteria to be recognized as a fellow included evidence of significant contributions to nursing and health care.
