Climbing the Mountain: Using the Mountain Model to Guide Evidence-based Practice and Quality Improvement

Feb. 26, 2026
Noon to 1 p.m.

This webinar series occurs on the last Thursday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. ET

This session introduces the Mountain Model (MM), an umbrella framework that integrates evidence-based practice and quality improvement (EBPQI) paradigms. This model is being applied across diverse clinical and academic settings, showing positive results in advancing sustained improvements in health care delivery.

Attendees will learn about the first research study supporting the MM for EBPQI and explore two real-world case examples, offering strategies for application in both academic and practice environments.

Speakers:

Jayne Jennings Dunlap, PhD, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, CNE, EBP-C, FAANP
Associate Professor and DNP Program Director, Texas Woman’s University (Denton/Dallas and Houston campuses)
Family Nurse Practitioner, Baylor Scott & White Health

Dr. Dunlap’s scholarship focuses on improving access to care for special populations, closing evidence-to-practice gaps, and aligning research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement. She completed a DNP postdoctoral fellowship with the Fuld Institute for EBP and serves as an associate editor for The Journal for Nurse Practitioners

Julee Briscoe Waldrop, DNP, FNP-C, PNP-C, NC-BC, FAANP, FAAN, EBP-C
Consultant, Writer, Nurse Coach and Professor Emeritus, University of North Carolina School of Nursing
Clinical Associate, Duke University School of Nursing

Dr. Walprop is co-creator of MM for EBPQI and a Fellow of both the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Academy of Nursing. She previously served as editor-in-chief of The Journal for Nurse Practitioners and currently serves as editor of the Emerging Scholars Program. She is the associate editor for the Journal of Professional Nursing.

Learning objectives:

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Develop an evidence-searching question based on an identified practice problem
  • Describe the benefits of a merged EBPQI model
  • Discuss the differences between EBPQI data analysis and data research analysis
