Dissemination and implementation (D&I) science is the study of strategies that promote the adoption, implementation, scale-up and sustainment of evidence-based interventions into routine practice. The goal of D&I science is to maximize and equalize the benefits of effective interventions for public health and well-being. This workshop expands on publicly available training courses to deepen investigators’ understanding of D&I research questions, concepts designs and methodological considerations so they can move toward incorporating D&I into their own research portfolios.
This accelerated master class will convene an interdisciplinary cohort of investigators with some research experience who are interested in learning more about dissemination and implementation science. By the end of this introductory program, participants will be more familiar with the language and concepts of implementation science, how to build these concepts and methods into a scientific proposal and how to evaluate implementation outcomes to improve healthcare quality.
Methods of instruction and evaluation:
This accelerated introductory education will take place in person and virtually over the course of three weeks:
- Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from noon to 4 p.m. on campus at The Ohio State University
- Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from noon to 4 p.m. online (synchronous)
- Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from noon to 4 p.m. on campus at The Ohio State University
Module topics:
- Introduction to D&I science
- Outcomes and strategies
- Theories, models and frameworks
- Study design and trial planning
- Hybrid and natural experiments
- Real-world challenges and tech integration
- Practical considerations and local resources
To participate in the program, you will need:
- Access and use of email for communication
- Access to laptop and productivity tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
- Attendance at all three sessions
Individual program fee:
The program is $1,200 per person. A certificate of completion of D&I introductory scientific education will be provided upon participation in all three sessions.
